My Yoga Journey
In the summer of 2019 I went to my first hot yoga class. I have been practicing hot yoga now for about 2 years. The hot yoga series I do is based on Bikram style yoga. Bikram yoga is known to be a very intense form of yoga that practices a series of postures in a heated room up to 105 degrees F. Even though this is an extreme level of heat to practice yoga in, I actually find it to be incredibly therapeutic. The heat itself has a powerful way of releasing all the stress that builds up in the body and the mind, and when combined with simple yoga poses the healing benefits multiply.
“Through asana we learn to stay centered in constantly changing circumstances. this translates into life as we discern the times and ways we need to let go and flow with what is happening, and the times we need to stand our ground and exhibit strength”
“Health is not just freedom from disease. Health is the perfect equilibrium of the body and mind, intellect and soul”B.K.S. Iyengar
The primary aim of yoga is to restore the mind to simplicity and peace, to free it from confusion and distress.B.K.S. Iyengar
