Kowabunga Van Klan on the Pier

The Kowabunga Van Klan took over the HB pier on Saturday, April 27, 2019. A chance to celebrate a unique collection of classic VW buses starting in the 1950s. My passion for the Vee-Dub is rooted in the desire for a lifestyle of freedom and adventure. It is the epitome of free reign and nonconformity. A vehicle towards more peace and happiness.

A Variety of VW Buses Showcased

The Microbus

The first generation of Volkswagen bus is characterized by the split screen windshield. By the end of the 1960s this VW bus was most popular amongst the “Hippie” culture.

The Bay Window

A classic volkswagen bus of the 1968-70s, characterized by the Bay Window. The Bay Window marks the transition from the decade of VW buses with the split screen windshield. The Bay Window also nicknamed the “Bread Loaf”.

Rustic VEE-DUB

This rustic Vee-Dub screams hippie van culture. The SURFRAT is an iconic representation of that 1960s rebellious hippie lifestyle of freedom, beach, surf, and adventure.
